Andy T’s Farm

ImageI am so excited about my story this week about a sweet corn farm in St. Johns!!  I kind of went out of my element for the piece.  The cool behind the scenes part of this story is that I actually interviewed him on two different days, but I never showed him from the first day.  I covered up all of that interview with shots from the second day!

I first called Andy on a Thursday and told him I was interested in doing a feature story on his farm.  He said I could come whenever and welcomed me and was so kind!  So, I came the next day and we had a long sit down interview in his shop where I got to know him.

Then, he showed me around his shop and nursery and I told him I would like to film the farm.  He said they had already gone and picked that morning and that the best time for me to come was at 6 a.m. when they pick!!

I said I would come the next day because I knew the story would look best with me actually on the farm Imagewith them.

Since, the farm is in St. Johns, I left my apartment at 5:30 a.m. that Saturday morning!!  I made it there when they were drinking coffee and loading up the truck to come to the Meridian Farmers Market!

We left at 6:15 for the farm which was a few miles down the road.  I got there just in time for the sunrise.  The first shot of this package was the first shot I took of the day.  I had a great time and they were all so nice and let me  put a wireless mic on some of them picking so I could get sound of the corn.  I told them I would die if I didn’t get the sound of the corn cracking!!  They thought that was hilarious.

Needless to say I am so happy that I got up early and went because the story would have been nothing without it.  I just emailed it to Andy and am so excited for his response.
