Covering the MSU football team for a preview was without question my favorite story all semester. As a first timer, I was really nervous filming and interviewing top college players and talking to Mark Dantonio and other coaches. After I got past the “star-struck” part, I had a lot of fun doing this story.
I went to two football practices to film the team. Little did I know there is a long list of regulations for the media when filming college football practices. Thanks to help from veteran reporters at WLNS, WILX and the communications staff, I learned my way around the field slowly but surely.
I practiced following focus and shooting action shots, which I had been trying to improve since my Lansing Lugnuts story. I had a better feel for what to film and how to be more creative with my shots.
