It is one thing to come up with a good story idea. It is another to come up with a good story idea that can be broken up into three parts, airing in three separate weeks, and without losing the viewer’s interest or having it sound like the same story again and again.
Since I have an interest in environmental issues, I wanted to find something that was along those lines. I chose a kid’s program called Grow, Cook, Learn, naturally, because it had three parts to the title, I thought it could work as a three-part series. I am really happy with how the final result of all three stories ended up.
I spent two days at “Grow, Cook, Learn” Camp. I went to a session with middle school age kids and filmed them as they cooked food with locally grown ingredients and then learned how to garden at a local community garden.
It is a really great program that was very successful for its first summer. The owner, Stephanie, hopes to grow the program and do even more with it next summer.
