In addition to the 9/11 story, I was also asked to cover the Haslett Cross Country preview for the upcoming season. This is the second sports story I have done since the Haslett lacrosse team back in the summer.
Fortunately, I was able to visit the cross country’s practice twice in order to get all the footage I needed. This sport is more difficult to cover than one might think, partially because the team runs out on the roads and not around the track. This made it hard for me to shoot them in action.
I got alot of footage of them stretching and I even was able to manage to do a standup while the team ran around the track just two times in order to warm up. I didn’t have alot of time to mess around since I wanted the runners in the background. It’s not the best standup I’ve done since being here at HOMTV, but it created real-life pressure knowing that I only had about 2 minutes to set up the camera and 1 minute to land the standup.

The coach and team mates I interviewed were very nice and accommodating to help me out in whatever way they could. Haslett High School reminds me of my own high school in some ways. They students seem very friendly and the coaching staff was just as pleasant. I look forward to covering more local high schools in the future.
