Governor Rick Synder recently passed the Pledge of Allegiance Bill stating that every Michigan public school classroom must have a flag present and an opportunity for the pledge to be recited each morning.
Many students already recite the pledge but in many schools there are no required opportunities for them to do so. In some classroom schools cannot afford to purchase a U.S flag which raises an issue and forces them to find funding for one.
The House Fiscal Agency says Michigan joins 43 states asking public schools to recite the pledge each day.
