Coasting in the Community

Today, October 14, 2012 marked a historic moment in the Lansing community. After years of diligence, planning, and meeting MDOT and the Westside Commercial Association created and implemented a plan to make a bike route from Stanley Street at the Western Entrance into Lansing all the way to the River Trail just beyond the bridge.

MDOT and the Westside Commercial Association solidified the plan with a ribbon cutting ceremony on the newly renovated bridge. The bike lane follows the non-motorized path for those looking to loop along the River Trail, and reroutes bicyclist along the Shiawasee Street to Osborn Road, and back up to Stanley Street, according to the Westside Commercial Association.

The WCA hopes that this traffic-claming method will renew the Lansing community and support community building and wellness.
