Well, I headed out to Glen Buege Buick in Lansing to learn a little bit about children’s safety seats.
Representatives from Sparrow Hospital and Capital Area Safe Kids were evaluating car seats for proper installation, expiration dates and size, among other things.
I was surprised to see how many people showed up to this event and how many really were installed incorrectly.
Coordinator for Capital Area Safe Kids, Mickie Kreft, said “9 out of 10 car seats are installed incorrectly and that is so true. I have been checking car seats for 12 years ad probably in my career, I have only seen 5 seats come in installed totally correct.”
A correctly installed child safety seat can reduce fatal injury by 71% for infants and 54% for toddler according to facts provided from safe kids USA.
