Smoke Free Air Law Helps Local Bowling Business

It is incredible, the many factors that came into play with this story. Granted, I could not highlight every one of them, but I learned a lot about the business just from this story. Aside from the factors that I stated in my story about why the business is so successful, other reasons were that employees were picking up the slack. They didn’t have the opportunity to lounge around and smoke when they were on shift. The other big one was attracting families to the business. It was mentioned by one of the employees who has worked in the bowling business for 11 years now that bowling is growing. It is changing into something everyone can enjoy; no longer is it an activity purely for men who have organized leagues. Now, it is very common for it to be a great place to take the family, or even a date. But before the smoking ban was passed, it could be quite an uncomfortable setting for those two scenarios.

The other thing that I learned was that people weren’t just saying that customer’s would frequent bowling alleys less often, but that beer and liquor sales would go down. The manager said that neither went down. But I was still amazed to hear that fact about people’s opinions of the law before it was passed.

I really enjoyed getting out and shooting my first story! I love being able to put a story together, and seeing the final product I was very happy; well, with the exception of my lav mic wire being exposed in my stand up. I look forward to growing from this first story and making my second one even better!
