Living with Parkinson’s

HOMTV is once again one of the media sponsors for the upcoming Parkinson’s Disease Walk in Okemos and so we have been putting together a string of special programming about the show.

I was fortunate enough to meet Okemos resident and Parkinson’s patient Peter Hasbrook along with his wife Barb a couple weeks ago. Before I met the Hasbrooks I wasn’t very familiar with Parkinson’s and what it was like to live with the disease.

Peter has been a Parkinson’s patient for 13 years and since then he and his wife have dedicated a major portion of their lives to researching and educating others about the disease. During the interview, both Peter and Barb offered tremendous insight into what day-to-day life is like for them and how they’ve dealt with the progression of the disease over the years.

It was a great learning opportunity for me and I hope their knowledge and experiences of living with the disease will help others who are dealing with Parkinson’s.
